The Training School at CPGS has, for several years now, acted on behalf of the LA in quality assuring the NQT induction processes in all the Authority's 70+ schools. Portsmouth has about 130 NQTs per year.

Since the introduction of statutory induction, the CPGS Training School has operated a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the LA's schools. Impact: last year school's rated the NQT Induction SLA 6th/37 of the LA's SLAs for quality of service; all 70 schools have opted in since inception and none have opted out. The SLA provides a helpline, an advisory service, NQT Handbooks, a Welcome meeting for all NQTs and Induction Tutors as well as access to bespoke phase specific courses. Impact: The successful completion rate for NQTs is 95% pa and the retention rate of NQTs in the city currently averages 85%.
