The Training School at CPGS is the centre for SWiS training in Portsmouth. This training is delivered in collaboration with Highbury FE College which is commissioned by the TS to tutor the L2 and L3 certificate courses.

The Training School has worked in close partnership with Highbury College staff to deliver SWiS training accredited at L2 and L3 for experienced TAs as part of a coherent training pathway from induction to HLTA status and beyond. Impact: In three years over 200 TAs have gained L2 and or L3 SWiS qualifications with a significant number going on to gain HLTA status. A diagnostic skills assessment is integrated into the training so that TAs can gain adult literacy or numeracy (ALAN) qualifications through Learn Direct should they wish. These follow up ALAN sessions are led by Learn Direct and delivered at the Training School.
